Inexpensive Room Redos

Inexpensive Room Redos

Most of us want to redecorate and can't replace "everything" in a room at once. So lets hear from those of you who have additions to this list; My personal top ten -

TOP TEN THINGS YOU CAN DO TO REDO A LIVING ROOM -

10- A new slip covered sofa can be replaced and changed for years to come without the extra expense of replacing in years to come! *** Try a Taylor Scott piece with a lifetime warranty. Usually a lifetime investment for around $2300.

9- New Cowhide Rug for a punch of fun - can find for less than $400.

8- Re-Arrange the room with a new focal point, like the fireplace rather than the tv. Don't you remember when you were a kid and rearranged your room, and it felt like a different place - Same concept. Feels great - FREE

7- Add Fresh Flowers or blooms from your own flower bed (or a friends) to the coffee table or mantle. - FREE

6- Family heirloom photos - get to the camera shop for some really good copies and invest in a few frames with something in common - either gilding, wood, color, ornate or simple and let the rest of the elements be a mixture like size and shape and make a display for the ones you love.- FEW DOLLARS

5- RE PAINT - one of my favorites to revive a new piece- give a well loved piece an uplift and a new coat of love! Try an antiqued white, a little distressing and a hand sanding for a new lease on life and put it in the living room for a punch of new style. Everyone will notice - try an old buffet for a sofa table, or a drop leaf table for an end table (who says these have to be so low anyhow) - FREE, or minimal purchase of paint and glaze and some elbow time.

4 - Curtains, London Shades, Silk Panels Puddling on the floor - nothing out dates a room more than old, aged window treatments. I recommend Budget Blinds - beautiful selection and good prices - 985-867-5175. Many rooms have been made beautiful with their design help! - Many choices can begin at or around $600 and up, depending on the size, etc.

3- A magnificent mirror over the fireplace, a large leaner or a beautiful French Trumeau over a side table. Add reflection and style with this one piece of decorative accessory. The most beautiful by master craftsmen usually offer detailed finish choices and either artwork or embellishments. From $300 and UP.

2- Pillows, pillows, pillows -and throws - Who doesn't like to snuggle up with soft, fat European sized new pillows! Be family friendly with washable covers, so kids can snuggle on the floor or lay on without having to worry. Fussiness is out for the family home. - A GOOD FIND - $25 and UP

1- The all time favorite, drum roll - the new light - A Chandelier for every room - that's my motto. Can you picture your new light, new aura, new mood setting with a fresh and updated chandelier? Crystal, turned wood, candelabra style - a new chandelier is the crowning jewel of every room. LIVING ROOM SIZES ABOUT $396 and UP

Many of these finds can be found at BeautifulHomeStore.com and other shops.
